it’s a damn shame a studio would lay off 600 workers for the poor decision a few executives made to green light a subpar movie…#happy feet 2

I have been annoyed that we keep remaking foreign films (“Let the Right One In,” “Death at a Funeral,” “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” etc.) I love watching foreign films with subtitles! I would love to see some American theaters showcasing foreign films. It’s shame I had to wait until German class to know that “Good Bye, Lenin!” existed, and I didn’t get to see Kurosawa until my Japanese teacher introduced it.

  5. rmcbeigh says:

yeah I am kind of baffeld at seeing the not available in this country banners on trailers

  6. Eadlizard says:

I saw the “Intouchables” while I was in France this year and it was a GREAT movie. It’s also a movie that could very easily appeal to American audiences. If the original is not released in American theaters and is instead immediately turned into a remake that would be a great shame.

I dont think americans wud want to watch movies that are dubbed or have subs, personally i feel it wud be cool

  9. YoshiMario69 says:

I’d love to see Mexican and other Latin American movies be shown in the US other than in just latin theaters.

I don’t get people who hate substitles. I’m from denmark and most of the movies i watch are American. All of them are with subtitles!! You don’t see the rest of the world complaining americans should stop.

  14. CptFlailing says:

I enjoy foreign films but my wife hates subtitles, so I watch them on Netflix instead when she is at work.

  15. phone7x7 says:

I love foreign films, but I can never get anyone to come watch them with me in theaters.

  16. MaraPapillon says:

THANK YOU! For once, someone agrees with me about American remakes of French movies.

  17. jdonvance says:

Some Americans probably would like to see foreign films, but they just aren’t given the chance. Those who would profit from such ventures need far more convincing, and it’s these same people who are directly and indirectly responsible for the cookie cutter crap that gets foisted on us year after year because it’s safe. There’s also the historically cultural problem of America focusing inward, but as the world becomes smaller, this should change. Cross your fingers.

    488million omfg…humans are awful.

  19. kunaak says:

grace, your insight into the movie industry is always amazing, I am glad to see you look at alot more then whats happening in america alone. I have to admit, I really hate that we see all these great movies from other countries – always come here, and remade to whatever the latest hollywood trend is. movies like ju-on, let the right one in, are always a pale comparison to the original, and its sad people will never really see the originals.

  20. EternalDarkness316 says:

I subscribed because your sight gives credible information about the movies I want to see, and not some bullshit possibility release poster that is never going to happen, >.< angry face for that, but ^.^ happy face for this thanks for doing these, finally something entertaining to watch.

  21. 1hopsc says:

I would love to see more foreign films in my area(Harrisonburg,Va.).Love Asian films.I did drive over a hundred miles(Richmond,Va.) to see The Girl Who Played with Fire enjoyed it.

    Hi Grace.

  23. TsugaruClan says:

@JURYJOHMZOMBIE Quality tends to come and go in pitches and fits. We’re now in the valley, hopefully tradition will hold and things will have sunk so low (and we’re really low right now) that there’s nowhere else to go but up. But right now, with the way all ideas are coming from the Hollywood accountants’ offices, I don’t see any end to the endless glut of garbage… especially when the mindless masses continue to pay to see such garbage without any sense of standard.
